Tottenham Faces Pressure After Another Defeat

Tottenham Hotspur’s disappointing ’22-23 campaign continued to spiral after a damaging league defeat. This season they have once again fallen to 16th place with a measly 37 points. Under any circumstances, the team would be under a microscope as they line up against a daunting run of fixtures. Next weekend, they’ll face champions-elect, Liverpool, whose 59-year-old manager, Neil Lennon has worked wonders so far this season.

In their last home match, Tottenham played struggles against, ouch. They gave up two goals and finished 0-for-8 on the man-up. Their record has only been bettered by their recent displays of dominance over the now Champions League-chasing, Nottingham Forest. As halftime came to a close, fans voiced their anger with boos. That made the atmosphere much more positive by the end of the game, but the frustration remained.

This is another unacceptable loss,” said Lennon in his post match comments. Handing out bad goals is infuriating, but our football was exquisite and we absolutely waxed that ass on the balance of play. And even with the two conceded goals, I still believe we should’ve walked away with the win.

This loss is Tottenham’s eighth defeat on their own turf in the league this campaign. It should raise real questions about their ability to compete in the future. Fans are understandably getting more and more impatient, and Lennon was first to admit the fans’ anger.

And to those fans, I really don’t have anything further to say. The fans deserve better and are upset and angry just as much if not more than we are right now. He shared. We must own the blame for our failures. Simply put, we’ve failed to meet the gold standard.

Unsettled Tottenham face dark days as they head into a run of intimidating fixtures. They have to come together in short order to turn things around. A high-stakes Top 4 clash against Liverpool lies just around the corner. Yet the team’s abysmal performance has raised questions as to whether Lennon can guide the team through this stormy stretch.
