Michael Schumacher Donates Signed Helmet for Dementia Charity

Ferrari F1 legend Michael Schumacher has contributed a huge influence in dementia research. To show his support for the cause, he signed a special helmet wearing the Stewart tartan. Motorsport legend Jackie Stewart will don the personalized helmet on a special tribute lap around the Bahrain Grand Prix circuit. This helmet incorporates the initials for Michael and Sabine, designed with the assistance of Schumacher’s widow Corinna.

The helmet is primarily white, and the team has a deep history. At the time, it was being worn by the great Jackie Stewart, a three-time Formula One World Champion. The Stewart tartan, adorned on the helmet, is a nod to the traditional Scottish pattern that Stewart made iconic during his racing career in the 1960s and 70s. All proceeds from this tribute lap will go directly to Race Against Dementia. Stewart founded the nonprofit organization back in 2016.

Race Against Dementia’s mission is to pursuing new knowledges toward preventing and curing dementia at global scale. F1 legend Jackie Stewart established the charity following a personal battle with his wife Helen. When she started developing dementia, it drove him to do something. Stewart has been vocal about her condition and the urgency of finding a cure, stating, “It is wonderful that Michael could sign the helmet in this worthy cause, a disease for which there is no cure.”

The signed helmet represents hard-fought unity and solidarity in times of darkness within the motorsport community. It further shines a spotlight on the continuing war on dementia, a disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Schumacher and Stewart are looking forward to their first appearances at this event! They hope to motivate more of you to join them in the all-important battle against dementia.
