Easter Favorites Revealed as Reese’s Takes the Lead in 2024 Instacart Survey

This year, Instacart’s new poll found that Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs were ranked #1 as the most loved Easter candy. In reality, they monstrous pervaded online shopping carts during the holiday season. Hot on their heels, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups rounded out the second spot, with Cadbury Chocolate Mini Eggs rounding out third. The survey revealed a strong uptick in floral orders for the holiday. According to Instacart, deliveries of lilies experienced a spike after increasing to thirteen times their standard orders. During the same period, tulip orders had surged up close to twenty times the normal yearly average. This points to an increasing trend among consumers who are choosing colorful spring flowers to brighten their Easter festivities.

Popular Easter Candies

In 2024, Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs emerged as the favorite Easter candy by a landslide. They flew high on Instacart carts, sitting atop their e-commerce competitors. Consumers went nuts for the creamy chocolate-peanut butter duo. His sugary creation soon became a staple of the festive season.

After Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, which came in second, the trend continued as shoppers turned to tried-and-true chocolate options. Cadbury Chocolate Mini Eggs took third, continuing their popularity at Easter for generations. Hershey’s Milk Chocolate kept its top five streak going at fourth, with Cadbury Creme Eggs rounding out the top five at fifth.

Further down the list, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Candy Eggs and Lindt Milk Chocolate Bunny were high on shoppers’ lists, landing in sixth and seventh places. Starburst Jelly Beans and Kinder Chocolate Candy Egg with Toy Inside rounded out the top ten. This quickly changing variety demonstrates the voraciousness of consumer taste.

Floral Trends for Easter

In addition to candy rankings, the survey revealed interesting buying trends on florals over the Easter weekend. Lilies have traditionally been popular Easter bouquet flowers. This year, tulips stole the show and surpassed lilies in orders for the first time ever. The dramatic increase in tulip sales indicates that shoppers are seeking out vibrant, happy bouquets to mark the occasion.

Instacart’s flower order data showed flowers orders received a typical, but other typical events. In fact, lily orders increased thirteenfold during the call, and orders for tulips skyrocketed almost twentyfold. This increase is a clear indication that customers are opting for bolder, brighter floral choices for the holiday season. This new trend indicates a continuing and widespread desire for flowers that bloom in season and fit beautifully with the Easter festivities.

Least Favorite Holiday Foods

Though candies and flowers ruled the discussion during the days leading up to Easter favorites, not every traditional food made the cut. The National Retail Federation’s annual survey found leg of lamb to be the most unpopular holiday meal. Perhaps most surprisingly, a whopping 35 percent of respondents said they would like to skip it completely. Coming up right behind them were the classic deviled eggs, with 34% of participants saying they hate the dish most.

These trends in consumer behavior make it easier to see how Americans are planning to celebrate Easter come 2024. As families and friends gather to celebrate the best of the season, knowing these trends will allow retailers to meet growing appetites and tastes.
