Piers Morgan Makes Dramatic Return to Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan has made a surprising return to "Good Morning Britain," nearly four years after his contentious departure from the ITV morning show. The episode from which Morgan stormed off holds the record for the most complaints in Ofcom history, with over 54,000 grievances lodged by viewers. Despite the backlash, the media watchdog ruled that "Good Morning Britain" did not breach broadcasting codes, although it acknowledged that Morgan's comments were "potentially harmful and offensive."

Morgan had left the program on March 8, 2021, following a heated debate over Meghan Markle's claims during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. The Duchess of Sussex herself filed a formal complaint with ITV regarding Morgan's comments.

In his return, Morgan rejoined his former co-presenter Susanna Reid and Ed Balls to discuss a recent phone call he had with US President Donald Trump. The conversation, held ahead of Trump's clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, touched upon various topics, including Ukraine. Morgan described his mood during the call as "upbeat."

Morgan's comeback was marked by his characteristic wit and banter with his co-hosts. He advised Ed Balls to forgo wearing ties, to which Balls humorously responded:

"Piers, as you know, I always do what the editor wants."
— Ed Balls

Morgan continued the jest, suggesting:

"Or what Susanna tells you to do, bad for her brand if you take the tie off."
— Piers Morgan

Attempting to embrace Reid, Morgan was playfully rebuffed as she quipped about moving on quickly to a new co-presenter:

"I've got a couple of new husbands now."
— Susanna Reid

Despite past differences, Morgan shared insights into his dynamic relationship with Trump:

"I've had screaming matches with him, literally, and then an hour later, we're laughing and joking, doing a fun interview."
— Piers Morgan
