In 1984, David Coverdale, founder and frontman of Whitesnake, invited Sykes to join the band. This collaboration led to Sykes recording parts for the "Slide It In" album and co-writing some of Whitesnake's most iconic songs, including "Still Of The Night" and "Is This Love." His creative input played a pivotal role in shaping the band's sound during that era.
Sykes's musical journey did not end there. He went on to release two albums with his own group, Blue Murder, showcasing his versatility and continued passion for music. Later, he formed a touring version of Thin Lizzy, bringing his music to audiences around the world.
