Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula One World Champion, has officially embarked on his new journey with Ferrari, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career. On Monday, Hamilton began preparations for his debut season at the iconic Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy. As part of his transition, Hamilton will reside in Italy to facilitate his assimilation into the team.
Hamilton spent his first day at Ferrari meeting key personnel and familiarizing himself with the factory and team members. The 40-year-old driver also had the opportunity to test the 2025 car in Ferrari's simulator. In an Instagram post, Hamilton expressed his excitement, stating he has "realised his dream" and that his first official day at Ferrari signifies a "new era in the history of this iconic team."

During his visit, Ferrari provided Hamilton with an extensive tour alongside team boss Frederic Vasseur and chief executive officer Benedetto Vigna. He met the management team, including vice-chairman Piero Ferrari, and participated in a daylong total immersion programme. Hamilton's transition includes adapting to a car that does not use a Mercedes engine, which he has relied on for 18 years.
Hamilton's move to Ferrari was announced in January last year, though contractual obligations with Mercedes delayed any substantial interactions until now. As he prepares for the upcoming season, Hamilton is expected to drive a 2023 F1 car at Ferrari's Fiorano test track later this week. Additional testing will occur in Barcelona before the launch of the 2025 Ferrari on February 19.
"I've been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn't be happier to realise that dream today." – Lewis Hamilton
The official F1 launch is set for February 18 at London's O2 Arena, where Hamilton and Ferrari will join other teams. Following this event, they will return to Italy for Ferrari's unveiling of their new car. Pre-season testing will commence in Bahrain from February 26 to 28, with Hamilton sharing driving duties with teammate Charles Leclerc.
Frederic Vasseur acknowledged the challenges ahead for Hamilton but expressed confidence in his capabilities.
"It is not easy but he is coming with his own experience. But he is not the rookie of the year, I am not worried at all about this." – Frederic Vasseur
