Market Movers: First Solar Leads Gains as UnitedHealth Group Stumbles

First Solar's shares surged nearly 4% following Seaport's positive assessment, highlighting the company’s favorable risk-reward profile concerning policy. The solar company also reported a robust 29% gain in investment banking for the quarter. With earnings per share of $2.22 and revenue reaching $16.22 billion, First Solar continues to impress investors.

Netflix experienced a modest uptick of 1% as Seaport upgraded its rating to buy from neutral, signaling confidence in the streaming giant’s future prospects. Meanwhile, Blue Owl Capital saw a 3.5% rise in its stock price after TD Cowen raised its rating to buy from hold, with the firm projecting revenue between $25 billion and $25.8 billion.

In contrast, Citi analyst Stephen Trent downgraded Southwest Airlines to sell from neutral, impacting its market performance. Meanwhile, retail giant Target anticipates a 1.5% growth in comparable sales for the fourth quarter and estimates quarterly earnings to range between $1.85 and $2.45 per share.

U.S. Bancorp released mixed results for the fourth quarter, but UnitedHealth Group faced a tougher situation as its shares fell over 4%. The health insurance company's fourth-quarter revenue disappointed analysts, although it surpassed earnings expectations with adjusted earnings of $6.81 per share.

DigitalOcean Holdings benefited from Morgan Stanley's upgrade to overweight from equal weight, resulting in a 3% increase in its share price. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing also made headlines, gaining approximately 5% due to its higher-than-expected revenue guidance for the current quarter.

Sezzle's shares saw an impressive 8% jump after the company updated its guidance, predicting that full-year revenue will exceed previous forecasts.
